Participants will be given an outline each week. This will be used as a guide for your daily reflection of the past week’s teaching. The outline is meant to help you discover more fully the riches and the life-giving power that God wants to give you through the LSS.

Prayer

Prayer is simply being present with God. Our prayer can take a variety of forms:

  • praising and worshipping Him for His own sake;
  • thanking Him for what He has done for us;
  • asking Him to do things for us or for others;
  • listening to Him speak to us; and
  • sometimes, it is simply being quiet before Him, silent in His presence.

Prayer will grow in you. At first, if it is new to you, it may go slowly. But as you come to know God more fully and experience His love, Your desire to pray will increase. After you have been baptized in the Spirit, you will be able to pray still more freely. God wants to give you the gift of prayer.

Daily Reading

The daily reading is meant for your quiet time to help you focus your attention on God. In the silence of the Lord’s presence, let God speak to your heart and let your heart respond with words of love.

If your mind wanders off while at prayer, do NOT get discouraged or feel guilty. Simply talk with Jesus about what is on your mind or what you are feeling and then surrender your thoughts and feelings to Him again. He is your friend; He understands.

True wisdom and true understanding are a gift from God. God himself wants to teach you. If you read the scriptures, and if you think about what they say, asking the Lord to teach you, you will be given spiritual understanding.

Deeper Reflection

To grow in understanding God’s word and God’s presence among us today, it is important to take time to study. You are encouraged during these next weeks to read and reflect on the New Testament as much as possible. At the end off each week’s daily reading there will be three (3) chapters from Scripture suggested as particularly important in preparation for the theme of the coming week. As you read these chapters, let the Lord speak to you through them. If you have questions, ask your leader for guidance. If you receive an insight, share it with others in the sessions.
