Discussion Group Leader's Roles

The Team. Faithfulness is essential for the team members to possess. They are the members who can be relied on. They must be at their very best to care for the members entrusted to them. Members of the team must have the following characteristics:
  1. Commitment to the renewal of the parish with the power of the Holy Spirit. Must believe in the message of the teachings and see the importance of helping others become firmly rooted in Jesus.

  2. Commitment to one’s work in the LSS.

  3. Spiritually and emotionally sound thus living a mature/good Catholic Christian life and living the life he/she is preaching about.
  • The Team Leader
  1. He oversees the entire seminar.

  2. His attention is focused on the participants, team members, and teachings.

  3. He gets to know everyone in the seminar.

  4. He delegates/coordinates with the team members.

  5. He sees to it that all ministries have a coordinator

  6. He emcees the event (or assigns someone to emcee the event)---introducing the speakers, re-enforcing the teachings and instructing the participants on what to do, making any necessary announcements.

  7. Delegates responsibilities
  • The Assistant Team Leader

    1. He assists the Team Leader in overseeing the seminar.

    2. He takes over the place of the Team Leader in case of his absence.
  • The Discussion Group Leader
Responsible for the overall care of the participants in their respective groups (see separate sheet for a complete list of Discussion Group Leaders’ Roles).
  • Hospitality Coordinator
  1. Arrange for the refreshment/food for each session.

  2. May request one or two prayer groups to bring refreshment/food for each session and set-up table for coffee and cookies, etc
  • The Assistant Discussion Group Leader(s)
  1. Checks weekly attendance

  2. Distributes name tags

  3. Prays for the seminar and participants

  4. Performs the roles of Discussion Group Leader in his/her absence groups

  • Administrative Servant (Registration/Greeting)
  1. Mans the reception table, have list of those attending

  2. Issue nametags

  3. Assign task to others

  4. Greet participants as they come to the seminar

  5. Be friendly and helpful to all and making everyone feel welcome.
  • Music Coordinator
  1. Coordinates praise and worship music for each session.

  2. Choose the music for each day to be approved by the team.

  3. May delegate other music ministry to take care of the music for each session:

    1. lead the participants in praise and worship before the start of seminars

    2. play and lead songs appropriate to the seminar theme

    3. create through anointed music and prayer an atmosphere of worship and an awareness of God’s presence in the seminar.

  • Promotion Coordinator
  1. Advertisements of the seminar not just in the Holy Spirit Parish but also in other parishes (banners, banners’ set-up, flyers, bulletins---Holy Spirit, Mt. Carmel, etc., and sign-ups).

  2. Coordinate distribution of flyers, manning sign-up tables at all masses on designated days

  3. Should arrive early enough to see that his team is there and assign positions.

  4. Make sure that his team are enthusiastically encouraging and exhorting people to come to the LSS.

  5. Make sure tables and supplies utilized are put away.
Note: No flyers must be given to people on the way to Mass.
  • Tape Coordinator
  1. Tape the talks and provide tape copies for the talks.

  2. Responsible for equipment and test for proper functioning before scheduled event.

  3. Label and copy tapes and make available for the Discussion Group Leaders for make-ups.
  • Set-up Coordinator
  1. Gets the help of others to set-up the physical facilities like chairs, tables, and others.

  2. May request one or two prayer groups to take care of the set-up for each session.
  • Clean-up Coordinator
  1. Gets the help of others to clean up after each session.

  2. May request one or two prayer groups to take care of the clean up after each session.
  • Sound Coordinator

Sets up the podium, PA system, microphones, and music stands as needed.

  • Book Table/Shirts
  1. Sets up and mans the book/shirts table

  2. To set-up or maintain tape table for sale or loan tapes.
  • Youth Ministry Coordinator

Coordinates the Youth LSS (12 to 18 years old).

  • Kids Ministry Coordinator

Coordinates program for the kids (5 to 11 years old)

  • Intercessory Prayer Ministry (Prayer Warrior)
  1. Coordinates ongoing prayers for the success of the LSS by activating the prayer line.

  2. Offers prayers in the Blessed Sacrament at the start of the LSS.
  • Telephone Ministry
  1. All leaders will call their down line reminding their members to attend the LSS at least once a week.

  2. At least three leaders will be calling each member on a weekly basis.
