Guidelines for Prayer Teams

A prayer team is composed of two (2) or three (3) people who will pray for physical, emotional or spiritual healing of the person requesting prayer.

The team members should listen to what the person wants prayer for and then pray to Jesus and ask Him to heal those particular things.

Pray in tongues, and listen to the Holy Spirit.

You may receive a word, vision, prophecy, or Scripture for the person. If you continue to receive the word or vision, quietly share it with the person. You do not need to give an explanation of it but tell them to discern it and pray about it.

When praying for specific things, pray audibly so that the rest of the prayer team can hear and pray for them also.

The prayer team should place their hands on the head, shoulder, or arms of the person only. Respect the person’s dignity at all times.

The team should designate someone as a catcher. That person should be ready to catch anyone who rests in the Spirit.

There should never be any attempt to "help" people rest in the Spirit by pushing against them. On the other hand, there should NOT be any attempt to stop people from resting in the Spirit by holding on to them or holding them up.

Once the person’s needs have been prayed for, the prayer can be concluded with an Our Father, Hail Mary, or Glory Be to the Father. The prayer need NOT be lengthy. If oil is used for blessing, it should be made clear that it is blessed oil, which is sacramental (like Holy Water).

Pray for one another that you may find healing. (James 5:16)
